Theme: Flag Day #3

From the taegeuk circle on South Korea's flag, representing cosmic balance, to Chile's lone star echoing its Andean isolation, today's set showed how flags encode very different stories. Papua New Guinea's flag pairs a bird-of-paradise with the Southern Cross, honoring both its rainforests and its Pacific location, while the Bahamas' aquamarine and gold bands trace the line where sea meets sand. Dominica closed things out with the only national flag featuring purple, a nod to the Sisserou parrot found nowhere else on Earth. Five flags, five capitals, and a reminder that even simple symbols can hold centuries of meaning.
