Privacy Policy

MapTapTime is a daily geography guessing game. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and who we share it with. We keep it short because we collect very little.
What we collect
- Your email address — when you sign in (via a one-tap email link or Google) or join the waitlist, so we can authenticate you and contact you about the game.
- A display name — the name you choose, shown next to your scores on leaderboards.
- Gameplay data — your scores, guess distances, completion times, and which days you played.
- Essential cookies — a sign-in cookie that keeps you logged in, a short-lived security cookie used only during Google sign-in, and (for players without an account) a random game-progress cookie that lets the server keep your current puzzle's guesses and score. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
- Basic technical logs — standard server request data (such as IP address) handled by our hosting provider for security and reliability.
How we use it
- To sign you in and keep you signed in.
- To record your scores and show leaderboards.
- To email you about the game (for example, a sign-in link or a launch notification if you joined the waitlist).
- To keep the game running, secure, and free of abuse.
We do not sell your data, run ads, or use it for cross-site tracking or profiling.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run the game. They only process data on our behalf:

| Anthropic | Generates the written recap for each day's puzzle (puzzle data only — not your personal information). |
Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and does not fingerprint you or track you across other websites. It gives us aggregate counts (like how many people played) without identifying individuals.
Data retention
We keep your account and gameplay data for as long as your account exists. You can ask us to delete it at any time (see below).
Your choices
- You can ask us to access or delete your data, or remove you from the waitlist, by emailing us.
- You can sign out at any time from within the game.
Children
MapTapTime is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we update this policy, we'll change the date at the top of this page.
